The Department of Chemistry is proud to offer a full suite of summer course offerings for 2012 – including Summer Organic Chemistry!

Have you been looking to fulfill for your Organic Chemistry sequence? Whether you want to get ahead of your studies, or you need to catch up on your medical school pre-requisites; we offer the full year of Organic Chemistry during the summer with lab in two 6-week sessions. The first summer Organic Chemistry session starts May 29th, 2012 (right after Memorial Day)! Our second summer Organic Chemistry course begins July 9th! Be sure to sign up with the registrar to register for summer Organic Chemistry. We have a limited number of openings available (24 spots)!
For the General Chemistry sequence we offer Chem 121/L – General Chemistry 2. We provide this course as a service to students who have started their General Chemistry sequence in the Spring and want to finish General Chemistry so that they can continue their educational journey with Organic Chemistry in the fall. Chem 121/L is offered May 7th – June 15th, 2012. If you are interested in the year sequence of General Chemistry (including General Chemistry 1 and are willing to participate in a self-study), please email Dr. Sirvent.

Pre-requisites: Consent of the instructor. Problems in advanced laboratory research with emphasis on research techniques. Research is carried out under the supervision of the instructor with weekly conferences to discuss results and direction. Emphasis will be placed on project management, safety, instrumentation, solution preparation, and research documentation skills. A written proposal and report emphasizing the literature background of the problem and the experimental results are required. The results of the research project will also be presented in an oral format in CHEM 499C. This course is a variable credit course. At least two units are required for all chemistry and biochemistry majors. A minimum of 50 of laboratory work is required per unit. May be repeated. Lab fee. | Link to SURP page |
